Akhtar Hussain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan, in 2011, followed by a Master's degree from Myongji University, South Korea, in 2014, and a Ph.D. from Incheon National University, South Korea, in 2019. He served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Incheon National University from 2019 to 2021 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta from 2021 to 2023.

His research focuses on the operation and control of energy and power systems, emphasizing resilient operation, energy management, consumer satisfaction, resource allocation, and the integration of distributed energy resources. He is actively engaged in addressing emerging issues such as the integration of electric vehicles, energy justice, and microgrid development for rural communities. Akhtar has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals and conferences, including IEEE PES Transactions. He is particularly interested in interdisciplinary research that combines operations research, artificial intelligence, and power/energy system models to solve complex power and energy system problems.
