Hussein Suprême
Hussein Suprême obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Faculté des sciences at the Université d’État Haiti (UEH) in 2007, a Master of Applied Sciences (2013) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering (2017) from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal.
Hussein Suprême is currently a scientific researcher at the Institut de recherche d’Hydro-Québec (IREQ) and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His areas of expertise include the modeling and simulation of the behavior of intelligent and sustainable power systems, the assessment of the impacts of the high penetration of distributed energy resources on transmission and distribution systems, the dynamic performance of systems and the applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and signal processing to network control. As an Associate Professor and Project Manager, he manages the scientific relations between his research unit and academic research collaborations: Optimization of the future energy system with Polytechnique Montréal and Development and prototyping of decentralized and decarbonized electrical systems with Université Laval. He is also an associate professor at the Institut des sciences, des technologies et des études avancées d'Haïti (ISTEAH).
He has received, among others, the scholarship from the Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (PCBF) of the Canadian International Development Agency (ACDI), the scholarship from the Research Chair in Electrical Network Security of the ÉTS and Hydro-Québec, the René Houle scholarship from the Quebec Federation of School Cooperatives (FQCMS).
Very committed and involved socially, Hussein has contributed to several science popularization projects for young people. He is the chairman of the board of directors of Île du savoir, a non-profit organization organizing the largest science festival in French in America, the Festival Eurêka!
